The Republican National Committee is lashing out at MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program, a popular show in politics and media circles, for what a spokesman called “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
In an email blast to supporters, RNC spokesman Mike Reed accused the show’s hosts, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, of bias, even though they once had a friendly rapport with President Trump.
“If there is a leader of the pack for the worst case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, look no further than MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe,'” Reed said. “Once a respected forum for intelligent discourse, the program has turned into 3 hours of far-left hysteria, filled with more faux scandal and innuendo than a bad episode of Gossip Girl.”
Reed said the program could have been focused on more “substantive” issues like healthcare legislation or tax reform but that on Wednesday morning, it was instead dedicated to “discussing misspelled tweets, White House staffing plans, uncorroborated Russia stories, and the supposed horror of President Trump giving his cell phone number out.”
Trump was widely mocked on cable news shows Wednesday and by journalists on social media when he sent out an early morning message on Twitter that included the term “covfefe,” an apparent misspelling of the word “coverage.” The message was later deleted.
Separately on Twitter, Scarborough said the email must have come in the direction of the White House.
“This is funny stuff,” he wrote. “Interesting to see Trump still obsessed with our show. He should get a hobby or new job that keeps him focused.”
