Sen. Cory Booker told viewers of the virtual Democratic National Convention that a Joe Biden presidency will raise the minimum wage and restore dignity to working Americans.
“Working people are under attack,” The New Jersey Democrat said. “The wealth gap grows, our middle class shrinks, and poverty persists.”
Booker said his grandfather’s union job lifted his family out of poverty.
He said Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden would raise the minimum wage, “so no one who works a full-time job in America lives in poverty.”
Booker ran for the Democratic nomination but dropped out in mid-January.
His job at the virtual DNC was to promote Biden’s agenda for workers. He criticized President Trump for saying the economy is doing well.
“Together we’ll fight for those who keep us healthy and keep us safe, who teach our children, we’ll stand for those who cook and serve and clean, who plant and harvest and who pack,” Booker said.
