As rumors swirl that Republican Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli will run for governor of Virginia in 2013, Democrats are already using the news to rally and mobilize their voters.
In a letter sent to supporters Thursday morning, state Democratic Party Chairman Brian Moran said Cuccinelli has “made a career of using his taxpayer-funded office to push his personal moral agenda on Virginians and embarrass this commonwealth.”
“Our next governor will be faced with enormous challenges: creating jobs, fixing transportation and cleaning up after years of Bob McDonnell’s borrowing, budget gimmicks and broken promises,” he continued. “We need real leadership to solve tough problems, not Ken Cuccinelli’s mean-spirited brand of limelight-seeking and Tea Party pandering.”
The letter than went on to ask for donations to “fight Cuccinelli’s Tea Party Republicans.”
Cuccinelli has yet to confirm the reports, but multiple news agencies have cited sources close to the attorney general who say he will run for the party’s nomination for governor in 2013.
