Former President Barack Obama plans to meet with new members of the House next week.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is hosting a reception Monday to “celebrate the freshman class of the 116th Congress,” according to an invitation obtained by Politico.

The event is only for new members and will be held at the house of Esther Coopersmith, who served as a representative to the United Nations during the Carter administration. Coopersmith is also well-known for hosting politicos at her home in Kalorama, the same neighborhood where the Obama family resides.
Obama has kept a low profile for much of President Trump’s two-plus years in office but made a slew of endorsements during the 2018 midterm elections.
And several first-term Democratic lawmakers served in the Obama administration. Rep. Andy Kim, D-N.J., served on the National Security Council, among other roles. Rep. Tom Malinowski, D-N.J., was assistant secretary at the State Department. Rep. Lauren Underwood, D-Ill., was a senior adviser in the Department of Health and Human Services. And Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., served as principal deputy assistant secretary of defense for international affairs.
