Trump: Foreign policy chops better than ‘anybody’ in the race

Donald Trump defended his foreign policy experience Monday after President Obama joked at the correspondents’ dinner Saturday night that the only foreign leaders Trump has met are Ms. Universe contestants.

“In fairness, he has spent years meeting with leaders from around the world. Ms. Sweden, Ms. Argentina, Ms. Azerbaijan,” Obama said Saturday night.

When asked about it Monday, Trump said it was funny, but said he does have experience meeting with business and political leaders all over the globe.

“I do deal with leaders around the world, I built a great company,” Trump said on CNN. “Right now we have hundreds of deals being negotiated all over the world by my company. I deal with presidents, and I deal with prime ministers, I deal with everybody.”

Trump added that because of his business experience, he has the most foreign policy experience than any other presidential candidate.

“I probably have more experience than virtually anybody looking at this office,” Trump said, adding that he “made a lot of money.”

Trump also explained that he skipped Saturday night’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner because of his experience at the last one in 2011. Trump said even though he enjoyed the evening, the media reported that he “had a miserable time, he felt humiliated.”

“I didn’t feel humiliated, I had a great time. So the press is very dishonest … and so therefore it’s easier not to go,” Trump explained.
