Mo Brooks tells Alabama he’ll ‘read the King James Bible’ on Senate floor until Trump’s wall is funded

Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., vowed Monday to oppose any spending bill that does not include funding for a southern border wall if he’s elected to the United States Senate.

In his first ad for the Alabama special election to succeed Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ temporary successor, Luther Strange, “Build the Wall” touts the lawmaker’s dedication to ensuring Trump’s campaign promise for a wall comes to fruition.

“President Trump promised a wall to keep us safe and to protect American jobs for American workers. But even some establishment Republicans are blocking the way,” Brooks said in the ad.

“Elect me to the Senate and I’ll fight every spending bill that doesn’t fund that wall. And if I have to filibuster on the Senate floor, I’ll even read the King James Bible until the wall is funded.”

Brooks vowed to share the names of every Republican lawmaker who “surrenders to the Democrats to break my filibuster.”

Trump has not yet endorsed a candidate in the race for Sessions’ Senate seat.
