President Trump announced that he will be signing an executive order to suspend immigration into the United States.
Trump made the surprise announcement in a late-night tweet on Monday. While the details of his forthcoming order were unclear, the move would follow travel restrictions already imposed on China, most of Europe, and other countries during the coronavirus pandemic.
“In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!” he said.

Trump suspended travel from China in January and later extended that to Europe after Italy and other countries experienced large outbreaks of the flu-like illness. Travel to Iran, which has been devastated by the virus, was also prohibited.
A White House representative declined further comment.
