2020 Democratic candidates demand immediate release of Mueller report

Moments after special counsel Robert Mueller turned over his long-awaited report on the Russia investigation to Attorney General William Barr, 2020 Democratic presidential candidates began calling for its immediate release.

“Attorney General Barr — release the Mueller report to the American public. Now,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., tweeted.

“This report should be made public immediately,” Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., wrote.

“Special counsel Mueller’s report should be made public without any delay. The American people have a right to know its findings,” Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., added.

As well as calling for an immediate release of the report, Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., demanded Barr testify publicly on the report’s findings.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., former Rep. Beto O’Rourke, and former Rep. John Delaney, D-Md., also piled on.

Former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro said Americans deserve to know the full truth about Russian interference in the 2016 election and called for the report to be released in its entirety.

It is up to Barr how much of the confidential report will be released to Congress and the public. Barr said Friday he was reviewing the report and he “may be in a position” to brief lawmakers on the report’s “principal conclusions” as soon as this weekend.
