President Trump will hold a rally in Pennsylvania on Aug. 2, his campaign announced Wednesday. Trump is expected to stump for Rep. Lou Barletta, who is running for Pennsylvania’s Senate seat in November, during the trip to Wilkes-Barre.
Barletta, an early supporter of Trump, aims to unseat Democrat Bob Casey. Vice President Mike Pence headlined an event for Barletta on Monday in the Keystone State.
It will be Trump’s 22nd rally in the state since he launched his presidential campaign in 2015. The president was the first Republican since 1988 to win the state’s electoral votes in the 2016 election.
“Certainly, the boom from the Trump economy is being felt throughout Pennsylvania, especially with the surge in new manufacturing jobs,” the Trump campaign’s Chief Operating Officer Michael Glassner said in news release.
“President Trump looks forward to celebrating these and other successes with our fellow patriots at the rally next week when he will also remind Pennsylvanians the importance of getting out to vote in the mid-term elections this fall.”
Trump’s Pennsylvania rally follows a July 31 rally in Tampa, Fla.
