Report: Clinton emails discovered on Weiner’s laptop

At least two new emails from Hillary Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state have been discovered on the laptop belonging to former Rep. Anthony Weiner, the estranged husband of top Clinton aide Huma Abedin.

The emails have never before been seen by federal law enforcement agents, a U.S. official told CBS News on Thursday.

The FBI is sifting through 650,000 messages discovered on the laptop.

Republicans have argued for months now that Clinton and her team should be charged under federal laws governing the mishandling of classified information. The FBI said in July it didn’t have enough evidence to recommend charges, although some speculate Friday’s announcement that it was reopening the investigation could change that decision.

Reports made public on Wednesday indicated the bureau is also pursuing the possibility of indicting officials involved with the philanthropic Clinton Foundation on charges of public corruption.
