Truth Social CEO Devin Nunes said he is supportive of Elon Musk as the Tesla and SpaceX chief closes in on a deal to purchase Twitter.
“Well, I think we’re all for it,” Nunes told Fox Business’s Maria Bartiromo Monday while noting that Twitter “needs to be completely reconstructed.”
Nunes, a former Republican congressman from California, touted former President Donald Trump’s new social media platform’s sense of community.
“[Twitter’s] not a community like what we’re trying to build,” Nunes said. “We’re not just trying to be a platform like Twitter, which is essentially a PR wire for celebrities and corporations. There’s just not very many people on Twitter, quite frankly. Where the eyeballs are is Instagram and TikTok. And look, that’s where the market is, and that’s where we need to go as a new company that can’t be canceled by Big Tech.”

Nunes added that Twitter is filled with many fake botlike accounts.
“There’s just a lot of fake accounts, a lot of bot accounts,” Nunes said, noting that Truth Social has taken steps to verify accounts are managed by real people. “We want real people, real engagement, interacting with each other. It’s what social media was supposed to be until [Big Tech] started banning Americans that they didn’t like.”
