Sixty-five businesses joined forces in a Friday letter to public leaders, namely Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, discouraging current efforts to curb gender transition procedures on children, which they say are “anti-LGBTQ+.”
“Discrimination is bad for business,” the letter read. “The recent attempt to criminalize a parent for helping their transgender child access medically necessary, age-appropriate healthcare in the state of Texas goes against the values of our companies.”
Of the companies, seven are headquartered in Texas, namely advertising agencies Bottle Rocket and GSD&M, Gearbox Entertainment, Neiman Marcus, dating website MatchGroup, the SXSW Center, and recreational vehicle dealer Taxa Outdoors. The Texas LGBT Chamber of Commerce also signed the letter.

“Our companies do business, create jobs and serve customers in Texas,” the letter read. “For years we have stood to ensure LGBTQ+ people — our employees, customers, and their families — are safe and welcomed in the communities where we do business.”
“At Pinterest we value individual perspectives and life experiences,” the social media platform tweeted Friday. “That is why we signed this letter to use our voice in support of transgender youth and their families in Texas and across the globe.”
