Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton criticized armed Michigan residents who protested their state’s stay-at-home order.
Responding to an article that said the Michigan state Capitol would be shut down after lawmakers received death threats from a Detroit man, Clinton compared the protesters to terrorists.
“Armed men storming a legislature to disrupt its democratic proceedings is domestic terrorism,” Clinton tweeted. “It cannot be tolerated.”

On Thursday, hundreds of protesters, some of whom were armed, gathered in Lansing, Michigan, to voice their displeasure with Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s decision to extend a stay-at-home order on May 7, which has hampered local businesses from reopening.
Thursday’s protest was just one of several events that have been organized over the past two months to protest Whitmer’s executive actions. On April 30, protesters crammed into the Michigan Capitol and attempted to break into the House floor as lawmakers in bulletproof vests heard arguments for extending the order.
