Watch: Missile defense interceptor destroys incoming warhead

On Wednesday, the Missile Defense Agency released video of its successful intercept of a warhead on Tuesday.

The test of the Ground-based Midcourse Defense system was the first in three years, and was meant to show the ability of a kill vehicle to strike a warhead delivered by an intercontinental ballistic missile.

The interceptor was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, and the target missile was launched from the Marshall Islands.
