Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., called for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to be fired after a CNN report came out Wednesday that he failed to disclose meetings with Russian officials when he applied for his security clearance.
“We can’t go a day w/o learning a new lie re: Trump’s team & Russia. Sessions should be fired. He has no business leading DOJ. Get him out!” said Waters in a tweet.

Waters, who has become a firebrand critical of the Trump administration, is also a leading figure in the push to get President Trump impeached.
The Justice Department later put out a statement defending Sessions.
“As a United States Senator, the Attorney General met hundreds — if not thousands — of foreign dignitaries and their staff. In filling out the SF-86 form, the Attorney General’s staff consulted with those familiar with the process, as well as the FBI investigator handling the background check, and was instructed not to list meetings with foreign dignitaries and their staff connected with his Senate activities,” Justice Department Deputy Director of Public Affairs Ian Prior said in a statement Wednesday evening.
