Weekly Examiner: Sony releases ‘The Interview’

After heavy criticism from Hollywood bigwigs to President Obama, Sony decided to release the controversial film ‘The Interview’ this week. Deciding not to give in to the hackers’ demands, Sony released the film online Wednesday and in over 300 theaters on Thursday across the United States. The movie drew sell-out crowds in many theaters across the country with some movie-goers citing freedom of expression as their reason for attending.

Former President George H.W. Bush was hospitalized this week after experiencing shortness of breath. Bush was taken to Houston Methodist Hospital near his home on Tuesday. Spokesman Jim McGrath said on Thursday that Bush is still in the hospital and still doing well. He is said to have a positive prognosis.

This week President Obama and his family are in Hawaii for a two week break over the holidays. Obama’s days have mostly been filled with golf and private time with his family. He and the First Lady visited a military base on Christmas day to give a speech to service members and their families.
