Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called Kellyanne Conway “sexist” for saying the New York Democrat’s feud with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was a “catfight.”
“‘Catfight’ is the sexist term Republicans use when two adult women happen to disagree with each other,” Ocasio-Cortez said Tuesday in response to Conway. “The reason they find it so novel &exciting is bc the GOP haven’t elected enough women themselves to see that it can, in fact, be a normal occurrence in a functioning democracy.”

Conway, 52, the counselor to the president, said Tuesday morning that Ocasio-Cortez and Pelosi were having a “meow moment.”
“Those four female Democrats that Nancy Pelosi is brushing back, I think they are all freshman members,” she said Tuesday. “A major ‘meow moment’ — brushing back in a huge catfight, really ridiculing them — and they voted against the Democratic aid package.”
The comments came after Pelosi and Ocasio-Cortez fought over the importance of progressives in the Democratic caucus.
“All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world,” Pelosi said. “But they didn’t have any following. They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got.”
“That public ‘whatever’ is called public sentiment. And wielding the power to shift it is how we actually achieve meaningful change in this country,” Ocasio-Cortez responded Saturday.
Pelosi has dismissed on several occasions the importance of Ocasio-Cortez and her fellow freshman progressive lawmakers. Ocasio-Cortez most recently criticized a border package that Pelosi helped pass through the House on a bipartisan basis.
