Clinton in North Carolina: ‘Change your governor’

Hillary Clinton on Thursday blasted North Carolina’s Republican lawmakers, calling on her supporters to vote out Sens. Thom Tillis and Richard Burr, as well as Gov. Pat McCrory.

Speaking at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, a historically black college, the Democratic nominee said the state’s GOP is too discriminatory.

“Discrimination is not only wrong, it is bad for business. The NBA, you know, canceled the game,” Clinton said, referring to the NBA’s decision to move the 2017 All Star Game from Charlotte to New Orleans over North Carolina’s controversial transgender bathroom law.

“[O]thers are not coming to this beautiful state because they don’t want to be associated with the discriminatory, bigoted policy of your governor and legislature,” she said.

Clinton then called on North Carolinians to “change your governor in November.”

“And while you are at it, change one of your senators. We are going to need reinforcements up in Washington. We’ve got a big agenda,” she added.

Clinton’s rally in Charlotte is her third in roughly two months, last appearing in late July. North Carolina starts early voting on Friday.
