Jared Kushner has reportedly been displeased with Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale after the low turnout at President Trump’s recent rally in Tulsa.
The New York Times reports Thursday that sources informed the publication that Kushner shushed Parscale several times in a recent meeting and told him to “shut up.” The paper adds that some of Trump’s allies have been “agitating for [the president] to overhaul his operation and effectively demote the campaign manager, Brad Parscale.”
“That’s a move Mr. Kushner has been encouraging in the wake of the Tulsa debacle, for which he has blamed Mr. Parscale, according to people familiar with his thinking,” wrote the New York Times. “Mr. Kushner and Mr. Parscale appear increasingly at odds.”
In a seemingly contradictory move, the New York Times notes that, on other occasions, Kushner has pressed those close to the president to tell him they think Parscale is doing well at his job.
At Trump’s rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, last month, attendance was lower than expected after the campaign took a break from rallies for several weeks because of the coronavirus pandemic. The local fire department reported that only about 6,200 people attended, though the venue’s capacity was more than 19,000. Parscale had tweeted days earlier that 800,000 people had signed up for tickets.
CNN reported that a source told the outlet after the rally that Kushner and Ivanka Trump were “pissed” at Parscale because of the event. A spokesman for Kushner said later that the report was “false.”
