Michael Cohen fires back at Jim Jordan: ‘Shame on you’

Michael Cohen ripped Rep. Jim Jordan on Wednesday after the Ohio Republican charged President Trump’s former personal lawyer with disputing a federal court decision against him.

“Shame on you, Mr. Jordan. That is not what I said. Shame on you,” Cohen told the lawmaker.

Cohen had been asked about a bank fraud charge he was found guilty of last year in New York. Trump’s ex-fixer said he acknowledged his mistakes, and disputed Jordan’s claim that he fought the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York over its findings.

“What I was doing is explaining to the gentleman that his facts are inaccurate,” Cohen said. “I still — I take responsibility for my mistakes, all right. I am remorseful and I am going to prison. I will be away from my wife and family for years, so before you turn around and cast more aspersions, please understand, there are people watching you today that know me a whole lot better.”

Cohen will report to federal prison on May 6, after which he is expected to serve three years behind bars as part of the New York campaign finance violations and tax and bank fraud case he faced in 2018. He will serve another two months concurrently with the first sentence “knowingly and willfully” making “a materially false, fictitious and fraudulent statement and representation” to the House and Senate Intelligence Committees in 2017 about Trump Organization negotiations to build a Trump Tower in Moscow before the 2016 election.
