Texas exit polls are now up and point to a very tight race Lone Star state. See the full results here. A few interesting tidbits: Clinton did very well with Hispanics in general, but Obama broke through among those under 30, winning the 18-29 Latino vote 52-47. He lost the other age groups among Latinos in Texas by more than a 60-40 margin. Obama continued his strong support among African Americans, winning over 80 of their votes. Obama and Clinton split the Protestant vote, but Clinton won among Catholics–part of a pattern that looks like her reasserting strength in the old New Deal coalition. The exit poll also shows a huge generational split. Obama won handily among all voters under 45, while Clinton triumphed among those older than 45. Finally, among males, Obama won 52-46. And like Ohio, Clinton did well among women, besting the Illinois Senator by 10 points, 56-46. While the Ohio poll looked like it gave a slight edge to Senator Clinton, the results in Texas point to an even tighter race. If you’re watching the results on television, you’ll hear a lot of references to the “length of the evening” tonight.
