Fender bender turns deadly

Baltimore police are searching for two men who fled the scene of a minor fender bender that turned deadly earlier this month.

As one driver tried to exchange information with the other, he was run over and dragged for several feet.

The man died six days later.

Baltimore City police are looking for two black men in their late 30s to early 40s who were in a Ford Explorer involved in a crash in the 5800 block of Erdman Avenue on March 3. The crash occurred in the parking lot of Urban Auto Parts.

After the collision, Charles Erdman, 65, got out ofhis car and attempted to exchange information with the men in the Explorer.

Following a brief conversation, the driver of the Explorer got back into the SUV and drove over Erdman, who was caught beneath the vehicle and dragged for a short distance, city police spokesman Donny Moses said Friday.

“The driver of the Explorer then slowed down and looked at Mr. Erdman, who was caught under the vehicle,” Moses said. “The driver turned the steering wheel and accelerated.”

Erdman was freed from the SUV but was hit again by the Explorer, Moses said.

The Explorer?s driver and passenger then left the scene.

Erdman died March 9 after being listed in critical condition at Johns Hopkins Bayview campus.

Police on Thursday ruled the case a homicide.

Moses said the license plate on the Ford Explorer was stolen from a car in the city in February.
