So who killed Robert Wone?

The third week of the Robert Wone trial kicked off Tuesday, and at times it’s been easy to forget that no one has been charged with murder.

Prosecutors have used the forensic experts, crime-scene photos and suspect interrogations that one might expect in a murder case. But the three defendants are charged with conspiracy, tampering with evidence and obstruction of justice. In short, they’re accused of covering up the killing.

So who did kill Wone, found dead in a Dupont Circle townhouse in August 2006?

In court Tuesday, Assistant U.S. Attorney Glenn Kirschner said Michael Price, the brother of defendant Joseph Price, ”may have been” responsible for the killing, providing the motive for his brother and co-defendants Dylan Ward and Victor Zaborsky to cover up the crime.

Michael Price had a key to the house and attempted to create an alibi for himself, Kirschner said. But Kirschner also said he couldn’t prove that Michael Price killed Wone, or was even in D.C. the night of the killing.

Michael Price has not been charged with any crime in the case. Testimony about him is expected as the trial continues this week.
