Two Constellation execs resign

Two top executives overseeing Constellation Energy’s commercial energy business, including its commodities trading division, resigned effective immediately — the latest leadership changes in advance of the company’s $4.7 billion merger.

Thomas Brooks, president of subsidiary Constellation Energy Resources and executive vice president for the overall company, and George Persky, chief commercial officer for the subsidiary and senior vice president of Constellation, have exited the company, it was announced today.

Their resignations are the latest management shake-up at Constellation, which last month replaced Chief Financial Officer John Collins, who remains with the company as an advisor on its merger deal with MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co.

Kathleen Hyle, currently a senior vice president, will assume the role of chief operating officer of the company’s commercial business and lead its new management team.

“Since the announcement of our merger with MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company, we have been working diligently to de-risk our portfolio and reshape our businesses to address a radically changed environment,”  Constellation President, CEO, and Chairman Mayo Shattuck said in a statement. “As we continue to execute on these strategic objectives, it is imperative to appoint a leadership team that embraces our vision, is agile in capitalizing on new strategies, and is committed to achieving our collective goals.”
