Fairfax County police are helping people dispose of worn American flags.
Flags that are too damaged or soiled for use should be destroyed by burning, according to the U.S. code. Fairfax County police said police stations are now accepting worn flags so the flags can be disposed of properly.
People can drop off the flags in bins in the front lobby of any Fairfax police station. The department’s honor guard members will dispose of the flags.
