Sherrod Brown won’t run for president

Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, announced Thursday he will not join the widening field of Democratic presidential candidates and will instead remain in the Senate, where he has served since 2007.

Brown made the decision after a monthslong national tour promoting a “dignity of work” agenda.

“I will keep fighting for all workers across the country,” Brown said in a statement. “And I will do everything I can to elect a Democratic President and a Democratic Senate in 2020. The best place for me to make that fight is in the United States Senate.”

The field of Democratic senators seeking to oust President Trump is already crowded. It includes Sens. Kamala Harris of California, Cory Booker of New Jersey, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota.
