De Blasio: Giuliani is ‘increasingly delusional’

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio called his predecessor Rudy Giuliani “increasingly delusional” for supporting Trump’s claims about voter fraud undermining elections.

“First, Rudy Giuliani is increasingly delusional and, secondly, there are so many studies of voter dynamics around the country that prove there is no meaningful voter fraud in this country at this point,” said the progressive Democratic mayor on CNN Thursday morning. Giuliani cited his own mayoral election experience to argue that the system is rigged, claiming on CNN Sunday that busloads of illegitimate voters cast their ballots multiple times.

“I’m sorry, dead people generally vote for Democrats rather than Republicans,” said Giuliani, who was elected mayor of New York City twice. Trump has repeatedly claimed the system is “rigged” against him.

De Blasio compared the Republican presidential nominee to a “third-world dictator” or a “military leader about to attempt a coup” for refusing to say whether he would accept the election results in the last debate.

“This is what fascists do. They take all those elements and try to undermine the democratic process,” said De Blasio, further asserting Trump is “embarrassing himself.”

De Blasio argued Trump’s latest declaration is “the big con,” asserting the Republican has set up a “fantasy” to explain away why he will lose the election.

“I think this is Donald Trump at his con artist best,” he said. “He has an excuse for his defeat. He is going to lose because the American people rejected his ideas. He has a racist campaign, he’s run a divisive campaign and has not spoken to how he changed this country for the better and people are going to reject it. So he sets up this fantasy to justify why he lost. But it’s dangerous.”

De Blasio argued that Trump planted “another racist seed” at the debate by refusing to say he would accept the election results.

“What Trump is doing is he’s trying to plant another racist seed where he suggests that any kind of voter fraud happens in cities, happens in communities of color. It’s just a classic tool, it’s a tactic to undermine the democratic process,” he said.
