The Maryland Department of Transportation is lending safety vests for children to wear over their costumes so they can be more visible to motorists.
The free, reflective vests are available at various State Highway Administration maintenance shops throughout the Baltimore region and can be picked up from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today through Friday.
The vests must be returned by Nov. 7.
To make sure Halloween is safe, “pedestrians must stay visible, cross at crosswalks and intersections, while drivers must remain alcohol-free, obey speed limits and remain vigilant for pedestrians,” said SHA Administrator Neil Pedersen in a statement.
