Obama hiring for experience

If you can’t cook, hire a chef. If you can’t drive, hire a driver. And if you can’t run Washington, hire someone who does. At a breakfast discussion Wednesday, sponsored by Yahoo! News, Politico & The Denver Post, historian Michael Beschloss — an Obama supporter — fielded a question from moderator John Harris about Obama’s perceived shortcomings with regards to political experience.

“The great thing about experience is that you can hire it,” said Beschloss to a roar of laughter from the Democratic crowd.

Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle seconded that sentiment during his own remarks, pointing out that “one of America’s greatest presidents — Abraham Lincoln — became president with just two years of Washington experience.”
