Sunday night’s debate audience broke into laughter when Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were asked to name one quality they admired in each other.
The Democratic nominee went first, complimenting her Republican rival’s children, though not specifically mentioning the role Trump played in raising them.
“Look, I respect his children. His children are incredibly able and devoted, and I think that says a lot about Donald,” Clinton told the audience at Washington University in St. Louis. “I don’t agree with nearly anything else he says or does, but I do respect that and I think that is something that as a mother and a grandmother is very important to me.”
Trump offered more personal praise of the former secretary of state.
“I will say this about Hillary: she doesn’t quit, she doesn’t give up. She’s a fighter. I disagree with much of what she’s fighting for,” Trump said.
