Las Vegas police confirmed 42 total guns were found in the shooter’s possession following the Sunday night massacre that killed at least 59 and wounded more than 500 people.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said 23 guns were found at shooter Stephen Paddock’s Mandalay Bay hotel room and 19 guns were found at his home in Mesquite, a city in Clark County, Nev. The motive of the shooter is still unknown, and police emphasized in a press conference Monday night they believe he acted alone.
From the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas strip, Paddock opened fire on concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival Sunday night. The shooting left 59 dead and at least 516 wounded. He was found dead in his hotel room from a self-inflicted gunshot wound by law enforcement.
The shooting is the deadliest in U.S. history.
Democratic members of Congress, as well as medical groups such as the American Medical Association, have called for increased gun control in the wake of the massacre.
