Kanye West ‘doesn’t know about’ politics, says Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian West said her husband’s support for President Trump is being misinterpreted and that rapper Kanye West “just happens to like Donald Trump’s personality, but doesn’t know about the politics.”

The reality TV queen made the comments Wednesday night to CNN commentator Van Jones at an event on criminal justice reform, according to the Washington Post.

She said West is “not the best communicator” and said what he shares in private is very different from how his public comments are viewed.

“He does need a translator. For real,” she said.

“He never said, ‘Okay, I know what’s going on with immigration, and I know this, and I know that.’ If he really knew, he would feel very compassionate about it. He never said that he supports that. I know it’s very confusing because when you see someone wearing a red hat you would think that they are supporting that. But he’s just fighting for free thought and freedom to like a person even if it’s not the popular decision,” she added.

Weeks after his freewheeling Oval Office meeting with Trump, West said he would be stepping away from politics.

“My eyes are now wide open and now realize I’ve been used to spread messages I don’t believe in. I am distancing myself from politics and completely focusing on being creative !!!” he tweeted.

The message came after Trump supporter and Turning Point USA communications director Candace Owens associated West with “Blexit” — a play off the United Kingdom’s “Brexit” — which encouraged black people to leave the Democratic Party.
