Kimberly Guilfoyle, a top fundraiser for the Trump reelection campaign, tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday.
She had traveled to South Dakota with Donald Trump Jr., her boyfriend, to attend the Independence Day fireworks celebration at Mount Rushmore that is being attended by President Trump and first lady Melania Trump.
Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son, tested negative. Guilfoyle, 51, and Trump Jr., 42, did not travel to the event on Air Force One and steered clear of the president’s entourage, a source told the New York Times. People who are expected to come in close contact with the president are routinely tested for the virus.
Guilfoyle, a former co-host of Fox News’s The Five, was not displaying symptoms, and she and Trump Jr. plan to drive back to the East Coast.
Other people close to the president who have contracted the coronavirus are one of Trump’s personal valet drivers and a spokeswoman for Vice President Mike Pence, Katie Miller, who recovered and returned to work in May.
