White House press secretary Sarah Sanders slammed Sen. Bob Corker’s comments about President Trump’s competency, calling them “ridiculous and outrageous.”
“I think that’s a ridiculous and outrageous claim and doesn’t dignify a response from this podium,” Sanders told reporters during the White House press briefing Thursday.

Last week, Corker, R-Tenn., issued a sharp rebuke against Trump after a Chattanooga Rotary Club meeting.
“I do think there need to be some radical changes. The president has not yet been able to demonstrate the stability nor some of the competence that he needs to demonstrate in order to be successful. And we need for him to be successful,” Corker told reporters. “Our nation needs for him to be successful. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a Republican or Democrat. We need for our president—the world needs for our president — to be successful.”
Corker also said the president “recently has not demonstrated that he understands the character of this nation,” referencing Trump’s response to the violence in Charlottesville, Va.
