In win for Sanders, Democrats call for $15 minimum wage

In a victory for Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Democrats amended their party platform late Friday to call for a $15 an hour minimum wage, saying the requirement should happen “over time.”

Sanders has yet to endorse presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and is seeking to extract concessions ahead of the Democratic convention in Philadelphia later this month.

During the campaign, Clinton had called for an increase in the bottom wage from $7.25 to $12 per hour. An earlier draft of the platform was less explicit, saying only that “Americans should earn at least $15 an hour.”
