Former Senate candidate Roy Moore dismissed President Trump urging him to not run again.
“Everybody knows I can win,” the Alabama Republican told the Associated Press on Wednesday.
“I think the president is coming under pressure from people in Washington scared I will run for the Senate, scared I will win and know I can win,” Moore said.
He said he still plans to announce his decision in June.
On Wednesday, Trump said the “consequences will be devastating” if Moore ran again in 2020.
“I have NOTHING against Roy Moore, and unlike many other Republican leaders, wanted him to win. But he didn’t, and probably won’t,” Trump tweeted.

…If Alabama does not elect a Republican to the Senate in 2020, many of the incredible gains that we have made during my Presidency may be lost, including our Pro-Life victories. Roy Moore cannot win, and the consequences will be devastating….Judges and Supreme Court Justices!

Moore lost to Democrat Doug Jones in the 2017 Senate race to fill the open seat Jeff Sessions vacated when he became attorney general.
Trump endorsed the Republican before Alabama’s special Senate election despite Moore being accused of sexual assault and misconduct against teenage girls, though he denied the accusations. Other top Republicans called on Moore to end his candidacy amid the allegations.
