NBC delays ‘Community,’ ‘Whitney’

NBC decided before the start of the season that it would move two comedies, “Community” and “Whitney,” to Friday. But now, they network is backing off, announcing on Monday that the slated Oct. 19 premiere for the two shows was now not happening. NBC with air reruns of “Grimm” in the time slot. Why the decision? NBC premiered a few new comedies at the beginning of the season, “Go On” and “The New Normal” have been performing well, while “Guys with Kids” and “Animal Practice” haven’t been as strong. Speculation is that the network is waiting to see if the latter two perform better and get picked up (the former two already have full season orders). If “Kids” and “Practice” wind up cancelled, NBC would slip “Community” and “Whitney” in to the open time slots. NBC expects to make a final decision on the fate of all shows involved in the new few weeks.
