Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson said his admission of marijuana use in recent months demonstrates that he is a transparent candidate.
“When it comes to admitting as recently as a couple months ago I had some edibles, I hope people take that as I’m a transparent guy,” Johnson said. “I’m going to tell the truth in this whole process, and so truth and integrity as president of the United States are really tantamount to decision making.”
Johnson said no one would have known he consumed those edibles except for his closest friends, but that the “unforgiveable” in life is hypocrisy.
He said he has not drank alcohol in 29 years, and that as the governor of New Mexico, he did not consume any marijuana.
In a recent Monmouth poll, Johnson earned 9 percent of the vote and said he hopes to make the debate stage.
