‘My numbers are better’: Pelosi claims she is more popular than Trump

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi touted her approval numbers ahead of a House vote on impeachment.

“My numbers are better than Trump’s,” the California Democrat told the New York Times on Friday. “So if I’m not doing well, he’s doing worse.”

President Trump has a higher approval rating than Pelosi, according to RealClearPolitics. The speaker of the House has a 38% approval rating and a 49% disapproval rating, while Trump has a 44.5% approval rating and a 52% disapproval rating.

The House is set to impeach the president on Wednesday and send their two articles of impeachment to the Senate.

Pelosi was wearing black for the vote, telling people she wanted the day to be “somber.” She also gave a speech in front of the House floor, where she recited the Pledge of Allegiance in front of a poster of the American flag.
