President Trump said Wednesday that he is fully behind Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown of California as the wildfires rage in the Golden State.
“Just spoke to Governor Jerry Brown to let him know that we are with him, and the people of California, all the way!” Trump tweeted.

The message of support follows tweets in the last week by Trump and others in his Cabinet, such as Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, blaming California’s environmental regulations for the massive wildfires ravaging the state’s north and south.
Trump had also threatened to withhold federal funding from the state. But on Monday, Trump approved California’s request for a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration, providing federal assets to help California battle the wildfires in Butte, Los Angeles, and Ventura counties.
Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke tweeted out a photo of him meeting Brown earlier on Wednesday.
Zinke said it was “[g]ood to see” Gov. Brown, but wished “it was under better circumstances.” They were also joined by Federal Emergency Management Agency director Brock Long.
Brown was holding a press conference as Trump tweeted Wednesday afternoon, after surveying the Camp Fire damage with Zinke, Long, local officials, and the National Guard.
