2 colleges to hold classes in redone Brooks House

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Two Vermont colleges will hold classes this fall in the newly renovated Brooks House in downtown Brattleboro.

The landmark building was almost destroyed by fire in April 2011, just a few months before the community was hit by flooding from Tropical Storm Irene.

The Community College of Vermont is moving this weekend from its old location on the edge of town. Vermont Tech began moving in last week.

Classes for both schools will begin in the coming weeks.

The renovated building includes state-of-the-art science labs and other amenities.

A ribbon cutting is expected this fall.
