Rhee to start national advocacy group

Former D.C. Schools chancellor Michelle Rhee is starting a national education advocacy group and will begin meeting with teachers, parents, and students to harness ideas.

According to Politico’s Playbook, Rhee will announce these plans on a pre-taped “Oprah” segment Monday, followed up by a Newsweek cover that will outline her ideas. Her new website went live at 10 a.m.

The reformist former D.C. school chancellor confirmed last week that she had joined Republican Florida Governor-elect Rick Scott’s Education Transition team, but had not committed to a permanent position.

Rhee resigned her schools chief post on Oct. 13, after her boss, Mayor Adrian Fenty, lost his bid for re-election to Mayor-elect Vincent Gray.
