Thousands in the dark after storms in mid-Atlantic

WASHINGTON (AP) — Hundreds of thousands of people remain in the dark more than three days after summer storms clobbered the mid-Atlantic region.

At about 8 a.m. Tuesday, Pepco was reporting about 118,120 power outages on its website. Montgomery County had the most outages, with about 75,350.

In northern Virginia, Dominion Power said there were about 86,600 outages.

Meanwhile, Baltimore Gas and Electric was reporting about 166,110 outages. Most of the outages were in Baltimore County, followed by Baltimore City and Anne Arundel County.

The Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative says about 1,120 customers lack power.

Utilities were warning that outages could last for much of the week, if not beyond.
