A Superior Court judge ordered a bond hearing Monday for two men accused of posing as police officers in a string of kidnappings in Northwest Washington.
Police said the men displayed badges and guns to order their victims into a red sport-utility vehicle. The female victims in three cases were reportedly fondled, police said.
Authorities have charged Caliss Johnson, 44, in two armed kidnappings and Rodorrio Kittrell, 33, with one kidnapping. The third kidnapping is being investigated.
Authorities said Johnson was alone in the first abduction of a woman, which took place in Georgetown. Johnson told the woman she was driving a stolen vehicle, then allegedly handcuffed her and drove her to an ATM in Maryland to get money, police said. He then released her.
Police said Johnson and Kittrell also allegedly forced a couple out of a car in the motel parking lot in the 1300 block of Fourth Street NW.
The couple was taken to their hotel room. The woman was taken to an ATM. Police said they took the woman’s money and let her go.
Early Sunday, two suspects pulled over another couple at a light at 13th and K Street Northwest.
The suspects handcuffed and put a hood over the man’s head and drove to an ATM to withdraw money before releasing the couple.
