Chicago Bulls Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen announced the death of his firstborn son.
Pippen wrote on Twitter that his son, Antron, died on Sunday, though he did not disclose the cause or manner of death. Antron was 33.
“I’m heartbroken to share that yesterday, I said goodbye to my firstborn son Antron,” Pippen wrote. “The two of us shared a love for basketball and we had countless conversations about the game.”

Antron played college basketball at South Georgia Technical College and Texas A&M International University and then went on to play in the World Basketball Association. His father said Antron’s asthma was the reason he never played in the National Basketball Association.

“Antron suffered from chronic asthma and if he hadn’t had it, I truly believe he would’ve made it to the NBA,” the elder Pippen wrote, continuing, “He never let that get him down, though — Antron stayed positive and worked hard, and I am so proud of the man that he became.”
Antron Pippen, born in 1987, was the only child that Pippen had with his first wife, Karen McCollum.

Scottie Pippen has been married twice. After divorcing McCollum in 1990, he married Real Housewives of Miami star Larsa Younan in 1997. He had four children with Younan before their divorce in 2018.
Pippen is a two-time inductee into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, having played for played 12 seasons with the Bulls, one with the Houston Rockets, and four with the Portland Trail Blazers. The Bulls retired his number, 33, on Dec. 8, 2005.
