President Trump criticized special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling Thursday, calling it “illegal.”
“I view it differently,” Trump told Bloomberg in an interview. “I view it as an illegal investigation.”

The president cited “great scholars” who have said “there never should have been a special counsel.”

Trump has frequently derided Mueller’s investigation, referring to it as a “witch hunt” that is run by a team of “angry” Democrats. He previously referred to the probe as an “illegal scam.”
Mueller is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
Trump’s lawyers have been discussing for months whether the president will sit down for an interview with Mueller, but have not yet said whether he will do so.
Discussions regarding a sit-down between Trump and Mueller have raised questions about a possible subpoena compelling the president to testify.
When asked about whether he would comply with a subpoena from the special counsel, Trump told Bloomberg, “I’ll see what happens.”
