Is Christie back? Governor has lunch with Trump Tuesday

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and his wife, Mary Pat, will visit President Trump at the White House Tuesday afternoon.

The Christies will dine with Trump over lunch in the Presidential Dining Room. The announcement that the former 2016 GOP presidential contender is meeting Trump comes a day after Christie told CNN that he had “absolutely no intention” of joining Trump’s White House.

Following Trump’s November victory, Christie had been floated as Trump’s nominee for attorney general, which ended up going to Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala.

Christie was ultimately never hired for a Cabinet position and has laid low in the months since. It’s unknown what three will discuss.

Trump will also meet with Homeland Security Sec. John Kelly and Attorney General Jeff Sessions later in the day, possibly to mull over how to respond to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals’ decision not to reinstate the executive order that temporarily suspended immigration from seven Middle Eastern and North African countries.
