President Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen has accused adult film star Stormy Daniels of violating a nondisclosure agreement she signed 20 times — and argues he should collect at least $20 million in damages as a result.
Cohen also aims to move the legal dispute to a private arbitration so details will not be disclosed to the public, the Washington Post reports.
Separately, Essential Consultants LLC, which was established by Cohen, motioned on Friday to move the lawsuit filed in California last week by Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford.
Cohen created Essential Consultants LLC to pay Daniels $130,000 so she would not discuss her alleged relationship with Trump. Daniels signed a nondisclosure agreement with the entity in 2016, but the lawsuit Daniels filed last week claims that it should be nullified because Trump didn’t sign it.
If Daniels violates the agreement, she could millions of dollars in damages, the Friday filing reveals.
