What: Led a trip of 10 congressmen on an 11-day trip, along with six spouses, that included snorkeling and diving along to the Great Barrier Reef and then flying to the South Pole.
Why it’s an outrage: The trip cost $103,000, excluding the cost of flying, which used Air Force planes. Based on Defense Department figures for per-hour operating costs, the bill would rise to more than $500,000.
