Roger Stone given extra two weeks to report to prison as judge sets July 14 surrender date

Roger Stone has been given an extra 14 days to report for his prison sentence.

The former Trump campaign adviser will now have to show up for his term on July 14, Judge Amy Berman Jackson ruled Friday. Stone was originally supposed to start his sentence in April, but the start date was put off due to the coronavirus pandemic and Stone’s ongoing health concerns.

Stone requested a 60-day delay and asked to report in September, but Judge Jackson chose not to allow such a long wait despite the Department of Justice raising no objections to the extension. Stone will be required to stay confined to his home until he begins his sentence.

“This will address the defendant’s stated medical concerns during the current increase of reported cases in Florida, and Broward County in particular, and it will respect and protect the health of other inmates who share defendant’s anxiety over the potential introduction and spread of the virus at this now-unaffected facility,” Jackson said.

Stone was convicted in November of tampering with a witness and lying to Congress. He was arrested in connection with former special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of the Trump campaign and Russian election interference. He has been sentenced to three years and four months.
